Quantifying Financial Planning
1 The ‘Industry Average’ data point in the chart above refers to the 50th percentile fee charged according to the study performed by The Kitces Report in 2020 as referenced above and can be found here on page 39 of 47. Fees charged by financial advisors can vary and change overtime. The fees and/or expense ratio associated with investment products such as mutual funds or exchange-traded funds (ETFs) are separate from the advisory fee assessed by IPA. Various studies and surveys of financial advisory fees show different results and may not be updated annually. The fees charged by IPA can change but would only adjust for active clients with an updated and executed Investment Advisory Agreement. Any new schedule of fees from IPA would need to be filed with the SEC and posted on our ADV Part 2A before it could be effective.
2 IPA Advisory Fee is expressed as the annual effective rate. The effective rate is determined by applying the portfolio size to the tiered fee schedule which can be found on our ADV Part 2A or on our webpage by visiting https://investplanadvise.com/compensation/. Fluctuations in the portfolio size due to investment performance will alter the fee overtime. While the Advisory Fee is expressed as an annual percentage, it is debited from the investment portfolio monthly and the number of days within a month determines the exact percentage.
